Biography

Jake is an emerging Indigenous, queer, and francophone multidisciplinary artist of mixed heritage; originally from Timmins, Ontario, and a member of Mattagami First Nation. Specializing in circus and street theatre he performs across Ontario, animating public spaces, festivals and events.


Jake is the creator of a 30 minute hooping and comedy show called the Jake in the Box Show. His solo show was debuted at the Toronto International Busker Festival in 2024 and has since been seen at the Amherstburg Uncommon Festival (2026), Toronto's DO West Fest (2026), Imagine in the Park Childrens Festival (2025), Minto Pride in the Park (2025, 2026). Elements of his show have been featured at the Royal Ontario Museum (2026), the Collingwood Pride Variety Show (2026),  and the Toronto International Busker Festival (2026).

On a stage, in a park or part of a bustling  festival, Jake in the Box brings a show adaptable to any environment.

Featured Performances

Scripted and choreographed acts that are designed to stand alone or be included as part of a variety show. These acts are unique, versatile and can offer up to 10 minutes of featured performance to seamlessly fit within festival or event programming.  


Tightrope:

Jake in the Box's inspiring and emotionally powerful original contemporary hoop dance performance; featuring traditional hoop dance shapes and modern circus skills using up to 13 hula hoops. Approximately 4 minutes.
